Partner Visas

If you are in a long term and committed relationship and co-habiting with an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or New Zealand Citizen you may be eligible for a temporary or permanent visa to enter, remain and work in Australia.

Partner Visa
If you are married to an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or Eligible New Zealand Citizen or are living in a de-facto relationship with an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or Eligible New Zealand Citizen for a period of more than 12 months and can demonstrate that you have a commitment to a shared life with the exclusion of any other partner and have joint social and financial commitment’s you may be eligible for spouse visa.

Depending on the length and level of commitment within your relationship will depend on whether you will be granted a temporary provision visa for a period of time that will lead to permanent residency or a permanent visa.

New Zealand Family Relationship Visa
If you are married to or are living in a de-facto relationship with a New Zealand Citizen and can demonstrate that you are living together have a commitment to share each other’s life with the exclusion of any other partner and have a joint social and financial commitment you may be eligible for a New Zealand Family Relationship visa.

On grant of the visa you will be given a 5 year temporary visa that will enable you to enter, remain and work in Australia for a period of 5 years.

Please note that the New Zealand Family Relationship Visa is not exclusive to partners of New Zealand Citizens and can extend to their partner, their (or their partner’s) dependent child, the dependent child of their (or their partner’s) dependent child, their (or their partner’s) relative who meets all of the following:

* is widowed, divorced, separated or has never married or entered a de facto relationship
* is usually resident in the holder’s household of the New Zealand Citizen
* is dependent on the New Zealand Citizen

Prospective Marriage Visa
If you intend to marry to an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or Eligible New Zealand Citizen and can demonstrate that you have met, have a commitment to a shared life with the exclusion of any other partner, intend to marry in Australia and are of good health and character you may be eligible to apply for a prospective marriage visa.

Interdependency
If you are in an Interdependent relationship with an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or Eligible New Zealand and have been co-habiting for a period of more than 12 months and can demonstrate that you have a commitment to share each other’s life with the exclusion of any other person and have a joint social and financial commitment with your interdependent partner you may be eligible for an interdependency visa.
